Wrongful termination occurs when an employer wrongly fires an employee. A wrongful termination claim can be based on several theories, such as breach of an employment contract, the violation of the rights of an at-will employee, discrimination, harassment or a retaliation for the employee reporting unlawful work practices (whistleblower).
